The second phase of life skills training – in which eager participants are trained to work on individual and community-level action plans to protect the health of both the village and its residents – concluded at Parmarth Niketan recently with a ten-day online training organized jointly under the auspices of the Global Interfaith WASH Alliance and UNFPA.
Through the PrayasApna Curriculum – which uses activities and guided interactions to foster interpersonal and time-management skills, problem-solving and decision-making ability and leadership aptitude in Youth – the Dream of Village Health facilitator, Swati Pravahji, inculcated healthy habits and motivated mindful behaviour so that the participating youth can be better-equipped in the future to deal with the day-to-day challenges and issues that we so often face.
In His inspired message to the group, Parmarth Niketan President and GIWA Co-founder and Chair, Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswati – Muniji shared, “Unemployment has emerged as a major problem as the result of Covid-19. In order to deal with this challenge, we must promote skill-development and training. We must connect education with skill, and we must share with our Youth the vocational education and skill-development programs that are available to them.
“It is absolutely necessary to encourage Youth to work towards good health for themselves and the community. With good health, and with the new life-skills curriculum that we can provide, we can improve their work efficiency and their collective energy. By developing healthy habits, we can build a healthy society.”
