WELCOME TO

Parmarth Niketan is a true spiritual haven, lying on the holy banks of Mother Ganga in the lap of the lush Himalayas. It is the largest ashram in Rishikesh, providing its thousands of pilgrims who come from all corners of the Earth with a clean, pure and sacred atmosphere as well as abundant, beautiful gardens. Parmarth Niketan is located in Swargashram, just on the banks of the sacred Ganges River.

Parmarth Niketan is open to all, with no discrimination on the basis of race, gender, nationality, religion, caste or creed.

The Ashram

The ashram is committed, as its name reflects, to the welfare of all. Through numerous charitable programmes in the fields of health care, residential education and wide-spread humanitarianism as well as through spiritual programmes to feed the heart and spirit.

The ashram offers daily activities of yoga, meditation, satsang, universal prayers and its world-renowned Ganga Aarti at sunset. There are also Nature Cure and Ayurvedic Treatment facilities on the Ashram premises as well as a charitable clinic/dispensary.

There are frequent special cultural, spiritual and environmental programmes given by revered spiritual leaders, acclaimed musicians, scientists, scholars and others as well as numerous charitable activities dedicated to the welfare of all, as is the meaning and motto of Parmarth Niketan.

H.H. Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji

“In the Service of God and Humanity.” Selflessly dedicated to the welfare of all, he leads, directs, and inspires numerous, wide-scale service initiatives. Touched by the hand of God at the tender age of eight, Pujya Swamiji left his home to live a life devoted to God and humanity, spending his youth in silence, meditation, and austerities high in the Himalayas. At the age of seventeen, after nine years of unbroken, intense sadhana, he returned from the forest—under the orders of his guru—and obtained an academic education to parallel his spiritual one. Pujya Swamiji has Master’s degrees in Sanskrit and philosophy, as well as fluency in many languages.

Sadhvi Bhagawati Saraswatiji

Sadhviji is a renowned spiritual leader and motivational speaker, based in Rishikesh, India. Originally from Los Angeles, a graduate of Stanford University, and a PhD in psychology, Sadhviji has lived on the banks of the sacred Ganga river, in the lap of the Himalayas for more than 25 years engaged in spiritual service, wisdom teaching, sacred action, and deep spiritual practice.

Sadhviji is the Secretary-General of the Global Interfaith WASH Alliance, an international interfaith organization dedicated to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene; President of Divine Shakti Foundation, a foundation that runs free schools, vocational training programs, and empowerment programs; and Director of the world-famous International Yoga Festival at Parmarth Niketan Ashram, Rishikesh—which has been covered in prestigious international publications and has been addressed by both the Prime Minister and Vice President of India.

True to its name, Parmarth runs a wide variety of charitable and divine projects and programs.

Parmarth Gurukul

The Parmarth Gurukul provides nearly 200 young impoverished, disadvantaged boys with a basic academic education as well as intensive sanskrit and ancient Vedic texts

Healthcare

The Swami Shukdevanand Charitable Hospital provides free healthcare on a daily basis, and Parmarth organizes free medical camps that travel into the Himalayan villages.

Clean, Green & Serene Program

Parmarth Niketan is dedicated to cultivating an awareness of environmental sanctity as well as restoring Mother Earth’s natural balance.

Education

Parmarth Niketan, in cooperation with the Divine Shakti Foundation, runs a free children’s school on the premises of Parmarth called Prakash Bharti.
