Giving Light of Vision: Free Eye Camp at Parmarth

A three day Free Eye Camp was organized at Parmarth Niketan’s Charitable Hospital, with Pujya Swamiji’s blessing and inspiration, under the Divine Shakti Foundation’s Project Give Back initiative, to provide quality and free medical care to underserved populations.

The camp saw more than 240 patients, providing free cataract surgeries to 107 of these patients. A dedicated team of doctors from Mumbai,Dr. Mustafa Parekh and Dr. Pranay Kapadia, Dr. Jarna Patel from Rishikesh, and Dr. Chitra Singh joined with a team of volunteers from across India and around the world to serve in this camp. Bhuveshwari and Aparna Makharia, Bharati and Bhagwati Trivedi, from Mumbai, Elisabeth Gilles from France, Claudine Franco from Brazil and many others volunteered their services throughout the camp.

Bharati Trivedi, a lawyer, shared about his experience serving, “It was one the most beautiful experiences working inside the operation theatre, helping the doctors and patients and making a difference in a very small way in their lives. I thank the team for making me a part of this great noble cause and hope to join many more in the future. As Pujya Swamiji says, if not a YOGI at least I can be UPA-YOGI (useful and helpful to others).”

Bhagwati Trivedi, psychologist, shared her experience, “It made me realize that nothing can give you more satisfaction than helping people who need it. It was a great experience, I would love to come again and try and be of utmost service to others.”
