स्वदेशी आबादी की एक अलग संस्कृति, अलग रीति-रिवाज, अलग भाषा होती है तथा वे प्रकृति पूजक होते हैं। आज जो जंगल बचे हंै और उन जंगलों में जो विविध जाति के पेड़-पौधें पाये जाते हैं उनके संरक्षण में आदिवासियों का महत्वपूर्ण योगदान है। वे प्रकृति के पूजक ही नहीं बल्कि संरक्षक भी हंै। आदिवासियों की संस्कृति ने भारतीय संस्कृति को एक अनोखी पहचान दी है। वैसे तो विविधता में एकता ही भारतीय संस्कृति की पहचान है तथा संस्कृति का विविधीकरण ही जीवन को जीवंत बनायें रखता है।
