Internationally-acclaimed award-winning singer and Parmarth Niketan Gurukul Alumnus, Kailash Kher, returned to the ashram recently for follow-up meetings and discussions with Parmarth President and Spiritual Leader, HH Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji, and Divine Shakti Foundation President, Pujya Sadhvi Bhagawati Saraswatiji, about the music academy for underprivileged youth that he plans to open soon in Uttarakhand.
Initially, the school will open online, using the latest technology to both instruct and present concepts and styles of music between teachers and students. Once student and learning trends are determined, a brick-and-mortar campus will be established at Parmarth Niketan, where Kher spent much time as a youth. Unlike other institutions of its kind, the Kailash Kher Academy for Learning Arts will not turn students away because of poverty or a lack of resources.
“I would have nothing today if it weren’t for Ma Ganga and Parmarth Niketan,” the singer articulated. “It is my second home. I received new life and positive energy here. This place inspires me to want to stay alive and to thrive. I want to provide the same type of environment and foundation to the youth of this country that I was given, whether they can afford it or not.”
Pujya Swamiji pointed out that Kailash Kher “Will never stop giving. Kailash has a relationship with God that inspires his behavior and actions and that he has a special connection to. It’s a natural fit and a true blessing that Kailashji will use his talents and his gifts for the betterment of the children of India and the world. I believe it is in noble initiatives like these that are true worship and offering to God. The talented children of India need a platform to express those talents. This academy will give them that platform.”
While at Parmarth, Kailashji joined Pujya Swamiji, Pujya Sadhviji and his Rishikumars in committing to increasing awareness of environmental issues through his work and travels. He also took with him on his return to Mumbai twenty Rudraksha saplings to create a reflective garden in which he and his forthcoming students can practice their music.
